NHS In-App Messages

This practice has now signed up to trial sending messages through the NHS app, to receive these it is a requirement that patients have the NHS app on their mobile device and that their notifications are switched on. Please note this is how you will receive messages from your GP surgery rather than text message.

The individual messaging integration allows individual SMS, questionnaires, booking links & video invites to be sent via the NHS App.

This pilot is essential for collecting data and insights on implementing individual messaging through the NHS App. It will ensure that we can implement such changes in a way that supports the practice to adopt Modern GP Access.

If you are unsure how to download, access or ensure you have notifications switched on the NHS app, please visit one of our sites and we will be happy to help.

Healthwatch Report

Healthwatch Lancashire visited the practice on 25th June and conducted a report on the practice, including suggestions for improvement.

During their visit, they spoke to patients about their experience of the practice and many patients contributed to this. They are known as the Health and Social Care champions working alongside the CQC.

They work with our NHS leaders and other decision makers to ensure they use patient/carers and families’ feedback to help improve care. They also spoke to staff and practice management and we have received the report which can be seen below.

NHS 111 Service now offering crisis mental health support

Millions of patients experiencing a mental health crisis can now benefit from support through 111, the NHS has announced this week.

The change means the NHS in England is one of the first countries in the world to offer access to a 24/7 full package of mental health crisis support through one single phone line.
People of all ages, including children, who are in crisis or concerned family and loved ones can now call 111, select the mental health option and speak to a trained mental health professional.

Previously, local health systems had their own separate phone lines, which were fast-tracked during the pandemic and took around 200,000 calls per month.

For people who need support at A&E, if there is a risk to life, every emergency department in England now also has a liaison psychiatric team available to offer specialist care.

NHS Talking Therapy Services are also available for people who need help with other mental conditions such as anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and PTSD and anyone can refer themselves online via NHS.uk or by contacting their GP.

Young people are being urged to come forward for MMR as vaccine campaign extended to 16 - 25 year olds

NHS vaccination leads in the North West are calling on 16–25-year-olds to catch up on missed doses of the MMR vaccine amid rising measles cases.

The NHS will send letters and texts to around 450,000 people aged 16-25 in the region, inviting them to come forward for the vital vaccination at a pharmacy or their GP practice.

Measles doesn’t just affect children, you can catch measles and become very unwell at any age. If you’re unsure if you have had one or both doses of the MMR vaccine, you can check on the NHS app, or contact your GP surgery.

The North West was the first place in the country to start offering the MMR vaccine in some community pharmacies and the offer is now being extended to include all eligible people aged 5 to 25.

The NHS in the North West is also expanding the number of pharmacies offering the vaccine to make it easier for people to get their MMR in a pharmacy closer to where they live. You can find a list of participating pharmacies here: NHS England — North West » Measles and MMR vaccines

Eligible people will be able to walk in to participating pharmacies, or phone directly to make an appointment.

Find out more about MMR vaccination at www.nhs.uk/mmr.

Important: Carers

Do you provide unpaid care to somebody else? We are here to help.

If your GP (General Practitioner) knows that you are a carer, they can provide you with really useful support, advice and information. For example, they can refer you to local support networks in your area or help you understand what you're entitled to as a carer - such as free flu vaccinations.

It’s important to tell them about your caring responsibilities so that they can offer support.
